Cardinal McCloskey Services strives to protect, empower and promote independence for at risk children and families and those with developmental disabilities through quality community based services.



OUR HISTORY



Since 1946, as society has changed and the needs of children and families have changed, Cardinal McCloskey Services (CMS) has repeatedly opened new doors to programs to meet the social, emotional, educational and health care needs of children in New York City and Westchester County. We remain committed to caring for those in need and to providing the highest quality of care to those we serve.



Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Director of Special Events and Communications will plan, organize and manage a variety of annual and special events in support of Cardinal McCloskey Services’ fundraising efforts. The successful candidate will:



Assist in determining funding needs and strategic goals for our events





Coordinate details, promotions, and execution of event plans





Direct, manage and train event volunteers





Develop a system of policies, procedures and evaluations for CMS events





Current Cardinal McCloskey events include:





Donor Reception with Honoree(s) - Annual Walk-a-thon





Wine Tasting Reception - Foster Boarding Talent Competition





Donor Acquisition/Cultivation Events - Annual Golf Outing





Holiday Toy Drive





In addition to the event-oriented duties listed above, the Director will also lead the communication efforts with all internal and external stakeholders. They will work with the Development team to maintain regular and frequent contact with donors and prospects, for the purpose of growing the CMS’s annual giving program. Communication-oriented duties include:





Coordinating the design, content and dissemination of two newsletters, two planned giving appeal letters, one board appeal, and one holiday appeal letter per year.





Developing the Annual Report draft, finalizing it with appropriate staff, and ensuring accuracy and timely production of Annual Report.





Working in conjunction with Vice President of Development to design dynamic printed materials, publications and proposals for major gift solicitations and for posting on the organization website.





The Director of Special Events and Communications will also assist the Vice President with budget planning and administration, and perform other related duties as assigned.
